Re: Tanking - do you bother?
Any bath or shower we tank....Homelux 5sqm matting to trade is £30, Its always included in our bathroom prices whether the customer likes it or not!
We do mention when quoting and take a little sample along, You would be suprised at the amount of tradesman that think it is not required, Small price now compared to a full rip out in a few years time

Oh, and can I just point out, the housebuilder (Barratts) skimmed the walls before tiling - in both bathrooms

Just read your link Liz, did a cloakroom in a Barretts house same age as yours a couple of months ago. Walls were all over the place, ended up ripping them all off and re boarding, only way I could get a workable level surface. The pipe boxing in looked like they had done it with a cornflakes box, really c**p quality. Most difficult bit was boxing in (with access) the burglar alarm control unit they had situated high up the wall, IN A CLOAKROOM??

Hardi is fully water resistant.. not fully waterproof... water will pass through it when fully immmersed, but it won't break down..
