Default shower, with plasterboard

Hello, new poster here

I am refitting our ensuite. The shower is in an alcove and the 3 sides are all plasterboard. Do I need to/should I tank it before fitting the shower tray and tiling? The room is on first floor with chipboard floor boards.

If I should tank, is BAL wp1 the stuff to go for and is is easy to use for a diyer?

Many thanks for any help

As easy as your'll get anywhere just make sure you have a good read of the instruction. Before you put tape between the tray and wall, Put your tile against the wall and tray use a pensil to the tile move tile with the pensil marking the tray, do it on all 3 walls. Masking tape on pensil line then fit your tape with wp1, when gone off remove masking tape, Saves you getting all on the tray

Hi

Ye you need to tank all 3 walls to the ceiling as its an alcove its a moisture trap. Be cheaper for you and a better job if you use an off the roll membrane like Dura-wp and tile over that. You will of course benefit from a fan in the ceiling as well.
