Default question for wtroom specialists

HI all just been to look at a job( wetroom)
THe customer has allready purchased all the the materials
Its a timber floor they have taken up all the floor boards so as to keep the levels down. the shower former is 18mm thick it is not wedi board but looks similar and he wants to put this straight onto the joists imo it isnt strong enough dont know the make as all packaging is gone as are the instructions,
hes going to make the remaining floor up with 18mm marine ply then he has homelux matting for the floor and wp1 for the walls, normally i would use all the same product ie wedi or ditra. so before i price this amalgamation of products thought i would get some input from you lot here goes.

1 do you think the former should go straight onto the joists as he wants.
2 do you think making the floor up around the former with ply is ok once its matted.
3 do you think these three products can work together to form a waterproof seal( homelux matting,wp1, plus former )
4 do you think im mad for even considering this job ( its a bungalow with timber floor so leakage wouldnt be detected for a while)

Its an insulation board former like wedi, marmox, dukkaboard, shower underlay etc it will need underboarding as it is not strong enough, has a low compressive strength. Insulation board is for insulating it was not intended for wet room trays. Check out Tilux or Tuff2

2 do you think making the floor up around the former with ply is ok once its matted.
There will be no make up of height, Notch joists put in ply sheet. Fix former to ply base to lay 22mm ply around

3 do you think these three products can work together to form a waterproof seal( homelux matting,wp1, plus former )

Messing around with 2 different systems WHY ? Either use Homelux which is off the roll membrane or use WP1. Why combine systems. the membrane is by far the safest. This customer has obviously been sold to AGAIN by a Topps muppet

4 do you think im mad for even considering this job ( its a bungalow with timber floor so leakage wouldnt be detected for a while)

No its an easy job aproach the customer explain that she has been sold a mishmash of products which can be adjusted to do a thorough job and get on with it.

If you are going to do jobs like this you want to be supplying materials you are happy with and give a finish you could guarantee such as Durabase WP where you have back up.
