| Re: Backerboards | | Hi
the joints need taping, if there is plasterboard there already then using Durabase WP will tank it properly and you will know your safe m8 tiler

| Re: Backerboards | | hi I am installing this wet room in what is currently a single walled area.
I am using the trisco 10 insulation (amazing stuff) 30mm thick equivalent to 210mm of mineral wool on top of a 38 x 25 batton,
my question is either wedi board or hardibacker suitable for vapour control do I need to install an additional membrane behind the board ? or will be ok, normally I would install a foil backed plaster board in an area such as this. but as it's a wet room I need to use the wedi or hardibacker,
is this just a cemetatious board or something altogether different.
thanks in advance

| Re: Backerboards | | Wedi is waterproofed when taped, Hardibacker needs tanking.
Vapour check plasterboard it and tank it with a membrane and it will be a solid job, you are making it more work and more expensive than you need m8 tiler

| Re: Backerboards | | tiler,
just to be clear are you saying don't bother with a backerboard just use a vapour foil plasterboard and tank it,
would the dunlop waterproofing kit do the job for the tanking.
thanks | | |

| Re: Backerboards | | Yes vapourcheck will do it and you need a waterproof membrane if you are going to do it properly not a paint on one
Have a look on the site m8

| Re: Backerboards | | Had a look at thr Durabase wp wet room tanking membrane seems ideal for the walls
, no need to use it on the floor as i am laying altro flooring.
would i just return this to the floor and lap by 100mm or just to the floor slab and tape the joint?
Sorry for all the questons but all new to me.
