Default Wetroom wall waterproofing

Hi, I am about to start a wetroom project. The wetroom floor is concrete screed. I will be cutting into the screed to insert an Impey shower former at 25mm deep. The walls are 15mm thick plasterboard on dabs on 100mm thick lightweight blockwork. The plasterboard walls are showing signs of shrinkage in the corners where (i.e. small hairline cracks) the skimming has dried out over the past year.

Be glad of some advice as to the best products to use to waterproof the floor and walls.

Thanks

Hi

Waterproof installation with Mapei Mapegum WPS using Mapeband in the internal vertical corners and at junction of walls and floor.

Tile in a solid bed of Keraquick or Adesilex P9 and grout the joints between the tiles with Ultracolor Plus (26 colours). If a water impervious grout is preferred then use Kerapoxy (26 colours).

Provide joints at floor perimeter, internal vertical corners and around fixtures and fittings and fill with Mapesil AC (27 colours)

best of luck

Hi GBH

Quite simply I would tape your corner and floor to wall joints using Durabase flexible tapes which will move with the building and prevent leaks worries further down the road. When the tapes are in place fix Durabase WP membrane to your walls using a flexible tile adhesive, this membrane comes on a roll and is real easy to use.

The above will sort out your waterproofing and can be found at www.wetdecs.co.uk or if you want a personal quote including an impey base or further help please email me

Cheers

Thanks Dave this Tilux base is in my opinion the best solution on the market.

It :

Has a pre installed waste system so no leak worries like others you have to put together yourself

Has a factory fixed waterproof membrane again this is sealed into the waste / trap collar solving sealing around the d drain

Provides an overlap of waterproof membrane around the base making sealing to walls and floors straight forward

Can be used with both wood and concrete floors

Can be cut to shape without weakening

Has gulley hight adjustment to take tiles up to 22mm

Has an overall instal height of 105mm,

Is exceptionally strong and light can be used with tiles and Vinyl unlike Marmox, Wedi board, Varme, Showerlay and No more ply Wet room shower tray formers

Will think of another for you
