could

The English modal verbs are a subset of the English auxiliary verbs used mostly to express modality (properties such as possibility, obligation, etc.). They can be distinguished from other verbs by their defectiveness (they do not have participle or infinitive forms) and by their neutralization (that they do not take the ending -(e)s in the third-person singular).
The principal English modal verbs are can, could, may, might, shall, should, will, would, and must. Certain other verbs are sometimes, but not always, classed as modals; these include ought, had better, and (in certain uses) dare and need. Verbs which share only some of the characteristics of the principal modals are sometimes called "quasi-modals", "semi-modals", or "pseudo-modals".

Broken tile. Could a tiler replace it without breaking others?

Hello, we have recently had some carpet fitters in who have done a great job but have accidentally broken a kitchen tile. What could be causing this? - damp behind tiles? - wet grout

It looks like water seapage coming through the grout, but cannot feel any wetness. Water pipes are below the tiles pictured. Could it be dampness behind the tiles through poor prep work?. I don't know to be honest, so am purely guessing from logic. This first appeared 2 days ago. (Part of an...

I’m after some advice really. I’m having my kitchen done at the moment and although I’m happy (more or less) with the units, the tiling on the walls is, I suspect a bit crap. I’m gutted - I’ve been looking forward to having it done for so long and I was so excited The builder is really nice...
