Default Help Polished Emperador Marble with a Bloom!

    Hi
I've got polished dark brown emperador marble for my shower and travertine for the rest of the bathroom. The travertine I have pre sealed before installation. I'm not sure about the marble, when i've taken it out of the boxes there is a bloom on it and lines from the corrugated cardboard box on the surface. I've read on this site that marble tiles come with a wax coating, i'm assuming that is what this is. How do i remove this prior to sealing the tiles? The tile supplier did not mention this can anyone help please?
    Thanks
    Peanut

Keep a couple of tiles in a warm room overnight and see if that does anything..

Box is unwaxed so that rules that out pics are a bit hard to see might work if you can take a pic without the flash maybe in natural light

Can you run your fingernail over it to feel if the surface is smooth or rough in the effected areas it should give you an indication on if there is wax to as you will get a slight build up under your nails .dont recommend the white spirits at this stage

Just a thought try a little bit of window cleaner on a small part of the effected tile rub it on then buff off see if that improves it

    Where abouts are you. ?

It might well be poor quality polishing. If you are close enough to me I can check for you.

As long as you are sorted.

The marks will most likely be from the box's.

Stone IMO should not be wrapped in cardboard like that.

In other words the tiles were still damp and then this leached into the packaging causing this then to bleed back into the tiles, a BIG error by this comp for getting them boxed in this way.... either box in polystyrene or band together or loose... never in cardboard as i have seen tiles packaged this way stained and not useable..

dave is right on this . the cardboard in between the tiles will draw moisture out of of the tiles and some salts within the stone. it good that you have be able to resolve the problem

Bad packaging method on the manufacturers part for sure. The cardboard could have been slightly acidic and etched the marble.
One man can do it all with the advice of his peers.
