Although their is a set pattern to Opus/Roman design I tend to favour a complete random setting out.6547.jpg Care often has to be taken with the smaller square tile as you will find where 3 joints are in line no allowance has been made for the additional joint width.
As long as you set your floor out in equal boxes/sections/grids and maintain a straight course, it often proves an easier pattern to follow.

Timlee, Is that pattern also calle Versaille ? I beleive it is..I have installed lot's of that...Lay all four tiles in the pattern, two small tiles against a larger tile will give you the joint size..The manufacturer determines the joint size, Not us...Hope this helps..
