Drying time - Limestone tiles
Can anyone give me some advice on how long it takes for limestone tiles to dry out after fitting? Because the walls were uneven a lot of adhesive was used (Keraflex Maxi) and the moisture is still coming through the limestone after 5 days. Can't seal until dry!

Re: Drying time - Limestone tiles
Kereflex maxi dries by chemical reaction. Unless it is very cold it should have been dry the next day. You sure it is from the adhesive?

Re: Drying time - Limestone tiles
Just checking the Maxi spec it says it is suitable for "moisture stable" stone. Perhaps that is the issue?

The damp patches follow the pattern of the adhesive and do appear to be drying - but very slowly! The Limestone seemed very soft..

damp patches showing through matching exactly the 5 dabs of adhesive behind each tile (didn't trowel as walls were out..)

Bit more info for you.
To get a level on the wall, in places the adhesive has got to be about 15mm thick (this is where the damp patches are worse), on top of a new bonding coat.

Re: Drying time - Limestone tiles
oops. i have seen this, limestone is very adsorbent, if there is a good lot of adhesive then it has come through the tiles and has stained it. i made this mistake myself about 3 years ago.
having said that, i could be wrong, but i am 99% sure thats wat has happened.
but wat i have done since is have my worker seal them before they went up. i know its crazy but am afraid of it happening again.Tile Experts Ltd. +353873195030

Re: Drying time - Limestone tiles
...the bonding coat had finish coat applied about a week before the tiles went up.. the patches are definitetly damp and drying from the centre out - but very slowly, they don't appear stained
