Default gulf stone the tiles with the bling

Used the gulf stone last week. Got my self all set up for a hard days graft cutting, as they were 600 by 600 on the 45. I assumed they would cut like granite but they cut like butter oh what a joy. Anybody used them?

laid 3 sqm in bathroom at the start of the week £10 for a 300 x 300 tile look good down, they are very easy to cut as they are a composite material, must be made with similar resins to baths as the smell is the same when cutting whole in bath for taps as cutting tiles

Smell like glass fibre when you cut them.

Done the black with silver flecks in. Wonder wot they would look like with the new Mapei glitter stuff in the grout.

Did a 18 sq m bathroom in them last year. Cut very easily. Smelled awful when cut with wet cutter.
Grinder not a good idea - them dust particles cannot be good for you !!!
Think the tiles were nigh on £100 a metre

i used the gulfstone black opal bought them from CTD 32sq mtrs , used them on the kitchen floor . my kitchen has been transformed into beautiful kitchen and comments are all fantastic from my freinds and relatives. just a warning the actual Gulfstone quartz tiles are freely availible at CTD branches i did a lot of researh and the internet companies i know for a fact are selling imitations from China that scratch rather then Gulfstone which do not.

I did a small bathroom with these for a local hairdresser and they look fantastisc. Easy to cut and simple to lay with flexy addy, over a traditional floorboard floor overboarded with 12mm ply. The smell people talk about is something you get used to.
These were £120 metre to buy.

Got my first client job on Monday, re-laying 5sqm of 300mm sq Gulf Stone (ish) tiles. They look like the Gemini/CTD ones, same price, have the mirror flecks etc, but are light beige. I spoke to the supplier and asked him if they were Gulf Stone. He sells them as 'Aviemore', he says like Gulf Stone but Gulf Stone doesn't come in beige. Anyway, job is a bit of a story, cowboy tiler put these down on 6mm mdf with blobs of godknowswhat type of adhesive over floorboards so they debonded pretty quickly. The client, having paid £500 for the tiles, wants them rescued, if possible. To be honest, the ones they prised up had no adhesive sticking to the tiles so I don't think it will be a problem. They also have bought 8 spare and some of the cuts were pretty rubbish round a quadrant shower base so I'll replace these if I have enough spare. It looks like they're not that hard to cut straight, but curves? Client says Jesse James used an angle grinder ( in their garage and covered everything with dust), I'm hoping the wet cutter will do the job, but with the curved cuts as above, what is best method? I'm not too comfortable with angle grinder as never used one on tiles and they're a bit of a handful, any suggestions on method eg clamp tile to workbench, take guard off wet cutter etc.
I would like to practice first before I set myself loose on £100 per sqm tiles with a grinder..............

most places are right into the gulf stone at the moment, unfortunately a lot of internet suppliers are selling of some poor quality stuff at knock down prices,i've had a few samples sent out for my hall and kitchen and it's obvious why these places are asking for 40/50m2 looks like i'll be paying the £80 odd per m2,my mrs is looking for those beige gulf stone tiles to do with the black border(c.e trevertine)dougie done these in black with red border and looks great

    Hi David
Your spot on like i said i looked at quite a few internet companies ie Domostone, tiles Porcelain , Crystalstone i beleive there selling rubbish from Far East cannot be sure . I know for a fact CTD do Gulfstone Essel Beige which i looked at to combine with the black but in the end the black just looked too good . I would certainly reccomend Gulfstone
