Hi I work in spain and uk money no way s good as uk Im lucky dont need to earn fortunes most guys on the costa blanca charge between 15 and 20 euros a metre including addy and grout addy only cost about sterling £2 a 25 kg bag bt the weather is good and the life germans pay lot more if you can use sand and cement like the old days
just come back from 2 weeks in Spain worked with a mate to tile a pool with mossaics and pool terrace. moneys not great but cost of living in Spain is much lower so only good if you live there or fancy a short break/busmans holiday. (Still a lot of time off to play)

I am 33 years old and have 3 years experience and am currently self employed. Thanks![]()
I've never "inspected" the tiling in Spain, but I did notice it when I went to Turkey last year, and most of what I saw I could have done a far batter job.
There again you never know, they might be paid £2 a sqm or summit daft and just throw them on.

would go self employed in spain you can make reasonable money on pricework if you can find work, if you work for a company you`ll get paid peanuts
My wife and I have been looking to relocate to Spain for a while now, The only thing holding me back is not getting regular work, I have been tiling for 11 yrs and do get very regular work so i feel it's a huge risk. Altough I would deffinatly accept some advise from anyone with experiance.
I have just joined this site and so far think it's very usefull.![]()
Hi I’ve lived in Spain for the last 5 years now, apart from the odd trip back to do contract work during the summer months when everything around where i live shuts up for at least a month, materials are cheap, and usually of a high quality, although I’ve not just stuck to tiling, to keep work coming in out here you need to diversify into other trades, and with a steady stream of work and good refrences you can charge a decent amount that is more than necessary for a comfortable life out here.

HI Nick.i lived in the Valencia region and worked as a tiler for two years, have you tried the inland trader and such like papers? I found i got some work out of this paper, but the best way is putting up cards in all the english bars and clubs and shops. It is pretty hard finding work there as i`m sure your finding out! Contact as many builders as you can.Hope it goes well.Ben
Hi Simon Live in Bournemouth uk.Am going to be moving abroad soon to Spain to work and live permanantly.I am 38 and done my courses in tiling Uk and want to come out as soon as poss.need to try and get an income secured so soon after wife n kids will follow. We want a new start and change to our lives. Also do marine upholstery and boat covers if you have any contacts in that field i would be much thanking you.All the best and plz get back soon Lee
My daughter lives in Mallorca and tells me construction industry in Spain is in meltdown so probably better to hang on in the uk for a couple of years. That is my plan anyway.
Have lived in Spain for 41/2 years and am fully legal (unlike many). Took a long time to build up clients & contractors, as alot of brits come for the sun, fags & beer and are very unreliable. Have been to many jobs that are half finished by brits to be told by the client we won't have another british tradesmen in the house.
Anyone coming out here, do your homework and bring plenty of cash to last you for at least six months as you wont find work immediately, also you will be competing against not only the Spanish, but Rumanian (who work for 30€ a day) and Morocans. Don't come out on a whim!!!! Seen too many people head back to Blighty penniless.
Anyway, I love it here, although you do work harder for less money but, the quality of life is far superior

Hi,yeah i have to agree with scott,i had my own tiling business an hour up the coast from benidorm,i advertised all over but only had a hand ful of jobs from that. Most of work is word of mouth and you are up against the spanish who can work incredibly quickly and much cheaper than the brits want and other nationalities. Its not quite the reality most people think it is and can put a big strain on relationships! You do need a good supply of cash to see you through and you have to do whatever it takes to make it there as work is in such short supply.learn spanish as it can be a nightmare and will help you settle in much faster. good luck anyone thinking of going over!
I was making gates & railings for a couple of years in the Albox area and one thing i learnt was forget the telly advertising you may see in bars/cafes etc, (complete waste of time and money), stick to local papers like the "Sol Times" and leaflet cars on market days,.
Changing trades in Spain is common hence the (dodgy tradesmen out here) i was lucky as i learnt the fabrication trade in the UK years ago also part of my apprenticeship was welding.
Good luck!!
Jeff.
