i'm about 20 mins from murcia,, there aint many large english/british firms here... most are small 2-3 guys advertising as ''general'' bulders.
loads of cowboys, the british are the worst.
there is tons of new building work going on but these are mainly spanish companies who would expect you to speak spanish.
lots of russians, morrocans and eastern europeans doing cheap site work ( quality ainy great but they are cheap and speak the language.
what i intend to do is get the training, then post cards in all the brirish bars and drop leaflets in the car window wipers at the different local markets the british use.( you can always spot the british cars easy ) Almost everyone here that buys a house starts doing work right away, extensions , terraces, extra bathrooms, shower outside etc.
just going to concentrate on private work.
the thing is most british here are so lazy they don't speak a word of spanish so have to use the british tradesmen.
Just spoke to a guy last week i met in a bar ( normal guy, normal bar!!!!!!!!! ) he was 60 and had come over to retire and had been a tiler for years in england, he said to me he had done 2 jobs that week and been asked to do 2 others and that is people coming to him because they heard he was a tiler.
Said he used to work on £30+ a metre in u.k. with material ( not tiles ) here he only gets about 25 - 30 euros a metre here but all the materials cost much less and the cost of living etc. is a lot lower.
If you want i will try and get some websites for some of the builders advertising in the local papers and send them to you.
cheers, off for a floodlight dip in pool and a cold beer.

my parents have had a place in La Zenia/cabaroig for around 8 or 9 yrs..used to use for a holiday home, sold up a few yrs ago, and had a place built up in Ciudad Quesada, and they decided to move over around 18 months ago, and i came with them..

really hard to try and find any decent work, and decided to do a tiling course as this seems a good option..should be doing the course over the next month to 6 weeks hopefully with NETT..

who did you do your course with?..what area in torrevieja is your property in?..if your coming over, give us a line at Divcelt@yahoo.co.uk..and we can get a chance to speak..
