Question Open Question: What can I add to floor tile adhesive to make it set quicker on my old kitchen floor tiles.?

I have made one bad attempt to tile my kitchen floor. The old tiles were as I said very old and ugly. The old tiles were not coming up easily so I read the adhesive instructions and it said it could be used to tile directly onto the old tiles. I did this and left it for a day before I tried grouting. The tiles had not set. I left it longer and longer and after a week I gave in and decided to gout. Even now the tiles were still moving. I foolishly thought the grout would help hold them in place. It didn't and now they look worse. To make matters worse I now have a puppy who lives in that kitchen most of the day. I need to redo the tiles but I need them to set quickly before the puppy wee's on them. I was thinking of just doing sections at a time but I still need it to set quickly. Short of using super glue (joke) what can I use?

Seems strange for adhesive not to go off. What type and make of adhesive was it? Where did you get it?

It should have been a cement based powder that you mix with water. Also most floor adhesives are rapid setting and can be walked on and grouted with no problems in a few hours.

Not meaning to be rude here mate , maybe you could clarify what you were saying.
Perhaps it was aid in a rush

You have only been a member for around 2 weeks now with around 25 posts you will find that the forum is a friedly place where some times humor is present. As for common sense maybe you should try and teach your employees that.

as you say raja rss feeds very rarely review the thread, and seem to be a waste of time really, but nevertheless are still responded to very promptly,so nothing wrong with humorous comments which are not meant to offend people, but obviously some people always take things the wrong way,i have always been given good advice on this forum and am good and ready to defend that, with whatever humour comes its way..

Touche . Like The Dig About My Employees . Now That Is Quite Funny.

Reread The Original Question And Although A Bit Odd Including The Puppy Story ,it Seemed Genuine To Me And It Seems Alot Of People Asking Questions On This Site Probably Take Advice As Its Written!!!as They Really Dont Know What To Do!

Johnny i was only kidding mate please don't take it to heart. We all like to have a laugh and a joke.
I am not down 1 of them things we live and learn. As for tiling let me partner deal with it from now on. I understand what u are saying and if it was any one else i sould have given an honest advice but the RSS feeds are funny and at times a little unbeliavable.
