Open Question: How do I remove dried in soap scum off my bathroom tiles?

I let a workmate use my bathroom whilst I was away for a few weeks (he was getting a new bathroom fitted). The dirty brute managed to cover the tiles and plastic shower curtain with thick soap scum and shampoo which I cannot get cleaned off now. I had to throw out the shower curtain and get a new one but I cant to that with the tiles. I'd make him come over and clean up his mess - but knowing him. he'd just make things even worse ! Last time I let him into my house. He even left big dirty footprints on my stair carpet which I cant fully remove and it's really bugging me !
