Question Open Question: I registered as a sole trader (Tiling) in Sept 2007 but never really got started?

In Sept 2007 I registered as a sole trader (Tiling) with the tax office, I completed one job then broke my arm and after recuperation went back to a salaried job. The one job was taxed at source. I have no intention of becoming a sole trader again. Do I have to fill in any forms before January 31st 2008. Advice would be appreciated. Thanks

As you registered in the current financial year (2007/08) you won't be issued with a tax return until after April 6th 2008. This will need dealing with by end of Jan 2009.

I once went through this, just got set up then got offered a PAYE job I couldn't refuse. Write to the tax office straight away and explain exactly whats happened, why and what you are doing now, they will want to know what youv'e earned and what youv'e spent but will cancell your'e self employed status and your stamp payment and may not evn send you a return.

Tiling round toilets makes me sick

People would stop asking questions then, I'd be left with nothing to do.

grumpy, it's a bit pointless replying to these threads as the actual person that has asked the question will never see your reply.
