Out of curiosity... how much is it to go on the BAL training programme?

And is it worth going on?

thanks in advance...

BAL Training Centre launches new five-day hybrid course
*Training centre operation combines wall and floor tiling programmes for the first time

Learning curve: The BAL training centres will offer the new hybrid wall and floor tiling programme from the end of August.

The BAL training centre operation, which incorporates three centres nationwide, is set to introduce a new five-day training programme to its portfolio; combining wall and floor tiling courses for the first time. David Rowley, a spokesperson for the BAL training centres commented: “Since the first Building Adhesives training centre opened fourteen years ago, we have completed over six-hundred individual courses, and we have used the knowledge and experience we have gained over this time to create the new hybrid five-day scheme.”

Although the individual three-day wall tiling and floor tiling courses are still available, the hybrid five-day course will help to provide a convenient and cost-efficient starting block for new and inexperienced tile fixers.

The first BAL training centre opened in 1992 on the site of the company’s headquarters and manufacturing plant in Stoke-on-Trent. Since then, almost five thousand delegates have passed through the doors of the operation, which now has additional centres in Bristol and Enfield. In 2005, the training centres began offering an assessment programme for NVQ students.

David Rowley added:
“Our focus with the BAL training centres has always been to drive forward the quality of the industry through the provision of a strong foundation for practical tiling skills. As such, we are always looking for new ways to advance and evolve our training programmes, and the new five-day hybrid course is testament to this.”

NOTE TO EDITORS:
The BAL Training Centres have become a leading light within the tiling industry; providing a wide range of training programmes designed to offer a solid foundation in both the theory and practice of tiling.

The centres have welcomed almost five thousand delegates, from distributors looking for a more detailed knowledge of the industry, to NVQ students looking to learn and demonstrate practical skills as part of the qualification process.

The centres are situated in Stoke-on-Trent and Bristol, and courses are taken by qualified, experienced and highly trained tile fixers/assessors using a strategic and robust teaching framework.

I did a course at BAL when I worked for Topps Tiles, at the time the course was about £50 and had not long started charging. At one point they actually even paid for your hotel for the few days too.

I would imagine they still don't really cover too much on the business side of things. And obviously everything you hear has the word BAL at the begining but it is a good name. So no going over other types of adhesives etc.

I enjoyed it.
