Question Open Question: Stainless Steel Splash Back or Tiles over the hob?

I am at my wits end, my partner and I are arguing over whether to have a stainless steel splash back over the hob cooker or tiles. My argument is that although tiles are lovely, stainless steel is far easier to clean than tiles i.e. when you get all the splashes of grease in the grouting, plus I do all the cooking so I think I am right. His argument is that tiles would look aesthetically better (he does NO cooking whatsoever). As you can see I am the practical one, I do not have a problem with tiling either side of the stainless steel splash back though. Thoughts please.
