Hi

Ive tanked bathroom walls (aquapanel and hardie) using Mapei aquadefense(no primer as advised by mapei support) After 2 days product peeling of the wall in large sheets.

Ive rang Mapei again to hear that is perfectly normal
And "tiles won't come off as different type of pressure is applied" .

Im bit worry that the wall hold 30+kg /m2
I did some tests afterwards with primed wall and its seems to stick better .
Not sure what to do.leave it ? peel it and prime it? use ardex ? idk
please advise

Are you certain that the boards were completely dry and clean of any contamination before you applied the paste?

Yes , absolutely. Walls vacuumed and wiped with damp sponge left to dry.

@Simons70 if I'll take Ardex route do I have to use Ardex adhesive cuz Still got 2 bags of keraflex s1

hardi is very absorbent and should have been primed IMO

Yes .aquadefense does stick better in tests areas and during second conversation with mapei been told that accualy priming with primer G diluted 1:1 with water may help adhesion.
bit to late... lesson learned

tanking aquapanel and hardi! - Why?!
Use plasterboard and tank that, or just use a waterproof board.

aquapanel and hardy, is like sclhuter kerdi board?
I only used what :(
aquapanel and hardibacker is cement/silica-based Antonio. Not waterproof.
Heavy, hard to cut. Pointless unless fixing very heavy stone.
Kerdiboard is the best waterproof board there is.
