Patching could refer to finishing of the bits you couldnt do at the time of tiling, the old tilers used to call it 'picking up'

1st and 2nd fix this is more often to do with joiners and sparkies. first fix is just that putting in wiring and back boxes etc for sparkies, stud walls and joinery that isnt seen for joiners. 2nd fix is the 'finish' stuff switches, light fittings, doors ,skirting boards etc everthing that needs to not only be right but is seen and needs to look right as well. Ive never heard the term apply to tiling though but could be wrong. Anyone out there know any different re tiling?

Hi mate..i am a brickie and in our work we are give a list of things that the client is not happy with....this is usually called a "snagging list". when we carry out the work on this list we call it snagging or "patching"

I take it in the tiling trade it would mean things like replacing damaged tiles, cleaning down tiles or going over grouted areas and if the electritians, plumbers or joiners have made a mess of your work making that good again.

Depending if it is your fault or if you can prove another trade has done the damage depends on wether you would get paid for the work your doing on the list.

2nd fix has been covered well so i wont go into that.

Hope this answers your question
