| Where we're at now | | OK it's been 2 years and a few months since tilersforums.co.uk went live and I thank you all for being part of it no matter how big or small.
We've evolved with our systems, rules and processes and I want to let you know we've changed our way of thinking again to better the forum experience.
We're going to allow talk about all brand names providing it's a tiler (or diy person) that's initially started the chat - and as long as there is no business interest in the talk - we still find 'reps' and tile retailers posing as tilers to get certain brand names they stock talked about more to give false impressions that they're more popular than they are - and with us having lots of new tilers on here that could be naive to that we've had this moderated heavily for some time.
Now I think we can relax a little. But please still report posts as and when they look suspicious to you.
OUR WEBSITES
Okay, we've had a bit of stick (only from competitors or people who haven't been able to use our members to sell to may I add) for having so many websites that are sponsored.
Well that's all changing now. TilersForums.co.uk has sponsors, and those sponsors are also displayed on ProTilingTools.co.uk, TilingCoursesCompanies.co.uk and UKTilingNews.co.uk. Though due to the revenue from those sponsors we are now able to create websites that don't take on sponsors such as TilersTilingTiles.co.uk, FindTrustedTradesmen.co.uk and TilingCoursesReviews.co.uk.
None of our websites are biased. Even our sponsors know this. We have always allowed chat in the TilersForums arms to be about any brand - its just those that don't have access to there as they have an interest financially that seem to say we're biased.
We once used to have to almost beg for sponsorship from any company that would have us. Though now we're refusing people such as Topps Tiles, Tile Giant, MANY big training centre's, LOADS of tiling tool firms (suppliers and manufacturers) and I think you'll agree that the ones we have selected are the ones that are liked and used the most in the tile industry.
We really are quite relaxed when it comes to chat, providing you're a tiler chatting about it and not a retailer or manufacturer that clearly will have a financial interest in making sure their names are on here and people are chatting about them.
I hope you all understand where I'm coming from. And please feel free to reply with your views. But as of yesterday we're allowing all chat about all brand names from tilers only!
All the best.
p.s. watch out for the "forums", "review", " tiler register" and "e-commerce" (web store) websites setup by companies with training centre's, web stores or some other interest in product and/or services. They may look a bit like ours - but they're not! |

| Re: Where we're at now | | This change seems sensible. We have supported the forum since the beginning and it (like us) has changed and evolved.
Content is always going to be the driver for the users so anything that helps with unbiased views has got to be a good idea.
I believe the checks and balances for moderation are in place to address the concerns of all.
Its healthy to see the site grow and I hope its providing the visitors with the content they need.

| Re: Where we're at now | | This is great news, it will give you guys some balanced views of the products and services out there.
As Dan knows, I have been reading this forum with great interest for some time now, mainly looking for ideas for new products and to get some feedback on our existing products. I did not post or pose as a tiler out of respect for the rules of the forum (although Dan says you would have seen through me anyway !!! )
Just to fill you in, I am the Technical Support Manager at Armeg Limited, I am not a 'rep' !!!!!
I look forward to helping in any way I can.
