Hi Tilers forums .co.uk members.
It is time to vote for JOTY 2011..
Really good entries last year... top quality by all..

here's my (revised) entry for this month. this room was done in high grade porcelain. my rubi wouldn't look at them, thank god for sigma! i did all the prep work too, including the framework for the bath, toilet and wall units. it's still not quite finished

Hi Peeps
Looks a s though Im starting off.
Heres some pics of a steam room I finally finished today.
Mosaics used were mesh backed 10mm x 10mm x 4mm glass, mesh backed 50 x 50 x 8mm glass and 50 x 24 x 8mm glass, all by Mosaico+ . Grouted with Mosaico+ epoxy grout which is exactly the same as Bisazza Filgel, which was a relief as its easy to clean, although I had my suspicions confirmed that I am allergic to it! Mapei Utracolour Plus was also used on the plain brown mosaics. I used Mapei P10 adhesive.
Its a bit of an all singing and all dancing steam room, and was certainly a challenge. Apart from seats there was a bullnosed ridge running round the room, 5 recesses, a boxed steam outlet and a curved rectangular ceiling with a blend!
For the ceiling I had only 8 boxes of the blend (7 sheets making up the blend in each box). That wasnt nearly enough to do the ceiling properly and the Architects sent me the layout of how to do it. Ive included pics of what they sent me, as its easier than explaining it! As they said its not perfect but its certainly the cheaper option, and everyone loved it anyway. I made a couple of changes to their layout to even out the blend.
cheers

I'll get the ball rolling. Finished off today. Polished limestone inside and out. 300 x various x 15mm inside and 600x various x 30mm outside (some outside slabs were as much as 1400mm so they were a bit of a back breaker!!) 10mm gap between edge of outside tile and edge of glass building where the stone has been rounded off to allow water to run down to drain. Also the whole length of the outside has rounded edges to give a nice finish. 4 x 115mm holes cut for outside lights. Scribing around brickwork steps. Grout lines running in line from inside to out and all at same level. Materials used : Dural CI Matting, Bal Tile and Stone PTB, Mapei Ultracolour Jasmine Grout, Lithofin Stain Stop and Lithofin Powerclean.
A bit of a job that one!! Hope you like it![]()
I'll enter this 45m2 poolside changing room, 45m2 of 660 x 440 porcs with stainless trims running through at two levels. I had to alter window heads and cills so that I could accomodate them to run through uninterrupted so to speak

Hi peeps
Im just sneaking in pics of part of a large job Ive just finished. Its an Ice Fountain thats in a Spa, including steam room, and salt grotto etc. Its something different.
The mosaics are 20 x 20 mesh backed glass, and grouted with Kerapoxy. I enjoyed doing it and doing the underneath bit was interesting, it was the most comfy way I could do it without doing my back in!!
cheers

Hi Everyone,
After seeing so many people putting up their work for JOTM I thought I'd give it a go myself. Just finished a project in London working with some very nice materials. A lot of imported marble, tonnes of mosaics and a great deal of prep work! Can not recommend prepping up enough!
In total there were 4 bathrooms and a oak floor entrance with marble insets. As I cant put forward all of them (or can i) I have chosen photos to one of my favourite bathrooms.
Floor had to be brought up about 2 inches to meet the wooden floors on either entrances as well as fitting the UFH throughout. Hope you like the final finish as much as I do. It was one great big jigsaw puzzle and a load of fun.
Thanks

Hello all, here is my entry. A shower room that I finished up today. It was for a builder and good friend of mine. The customer wanted the mosaics on the floor to be fixed in this pattern and not as they came on the sheets, so every other course of tiles had to be marked and cut by hand into wedge shapes, this took an ages to do but I like the outcome. The floor was then grouted in epoxy. The walls have LED lights in them that make a nice touch. Unfortunately tho, I dont have many pics of the job in progress as my camera with most of my stage by stage pics on it was pinched. Anyway, I hope there is enough to be interesting.

Hi everyone! im entereing a limestone bathroom with underfloor heating. the limestone is really top notch stone and really lovely and thick. As you can see it has some pretty crazy features! especially over and around the bath area. Was extremely painful and hard work doing this room. Each and every corner is mytred creating a really great room which im absoloutly chuffed with!! the mosaic border has been packed out with slate as too is the mosaics inside the limestone by the bath. i have created a frame like effect with the cuts around the cubby hole and around the area where the mirror will be fitted inside the mosaics. Sorry for the poor quality pics need a new camera!!and also please note the floor grout was drying when the pics were taken so the colour is a lil darker than the dry walls
So glad when this was finished as it nearly killed me!!! thanks for checkin it out

Here's my first stab at the JOTM competition. It's a sparkly bathroom created by knocking together a small bathroom and a loo. The floor was a mess of old floorboards with about 40mm out of level across 3m, so after sorting the plumbing beneath, a new 18mm WBP ply floor was laid onto firings. All the vertical corners were rounded off to let the mosaic flow around the room - that took a while to get right! The walls are Iridis Verbena mosaic on Weber SPF adhesive with Weber Pro grout and the floor is Mirror Diamond synthetic black granite on Weber SPF with Weber Pro grout. It's taken 4 weeks to complete but we do now have very happy customers !

Well we have had some of the best tilers in the UK, who take time to enter pics of their jobs etc and then entered them into one of JOTM threads throughout the year.
Each JOTM winner is now entered in a ONE off Job the the year title... a very lucrative tag indeed....
So please do take time to study the quality of the work and the time that must go into said masterpiece... most of all.. Good luck to each entry...

It's definatley between 3 for me...I'm still thinking
Amazing work, all of them
The winner should be very proud

Congratulations to each and every one of you - well deserved. I agree with Mosaic Girl - when it boils down to workmanship and skills -- not withstanding the design and colour scheme etc that was invariably led by the client, there three entries that stand apart - My votes in and I like it a lot -

I agree with posts delivered here regarding the overall standards. However one choice had to be made.
I made my decision based on how complicated the setting out was, the visible quality of the installation, and finally - did I like the look of the finished job? I know that my final determinator was a tad cosmetic, but it is clear that many of the jobs were examples of artisan workmanship - top of their game - so I had to like the finished work.
