    Default ** JOTM May 2011 **

    Hi Tilers arms members.

Please enter your pics for JOTM May 2011..

The prize for this month is a GOODIE bag from Mapei uk....

And we also have this month a set of knee pads donated by Sprung Ltd | Home

So many thanks to Sprung ltd for donating these..

All entries must either be date stamped on the pics entered or a news paper dated within the JOTM thread shown in one of the pics.

This is to prevent entries that were completed before the JOTM started etc, this is to make it fair for all who enter.

So if you enter pics and they are not as above then your entry will not count..

EDIT BY DAN: I'm going to give £150 to the winner, and £50 to both 2nd and 3rd place - but only if we get 5 or more entries.

Please do join in this one!

Please note I'm going to give cash prizes to the winners this time. Well, a cheque, but still cash after a few days.

But only if we have 5 or more entries!

Come on people, enter the best you've done this month no matter what.

    Thanks in advance!

Me too Dean, very generous offer from Dan. I have not had anything worth entering for a while.

I start one on Mon that may be OK. If it looks alright, I will enter it. But I would not take money from Dan. The badge is reward enough for me

the prizes that the sponsors are good enough to put up are nice to have but for me it is the best feeling when someone takes the time to vote for your work. like you Phil i have not had a lot to show. i did have a nice floor i was going to enter but as fast as i tiled it they covered it with junk so i did not get a good pic not even one

Laid on 22mm plywood (customer wouldnt spend anymore on matting).Walls laid to marmox 4mm (which is really 6mm plus a millimetre for adhesive which marmox advised would take out the bounce). All external Corners I polished and chamfered at edges.Window sill i bullnosed just to finish the job off nicely.
The Bath weighed 178kg alone without water or a person.Nearly slipped a disk getting it up the stairs...took 5 of us.
I suggested drilling cores in the marble marked out where the legs would go and pack the floor up 1 or 2mm proud of marble to isolate the weight sitting on those tiles.
Wasnt much change of £15,000 for this room.
Great job, great to work with...Hope you like it...cheers

Very nice job simmy, unbelievable weight in that room now too.
Let's hope that ply doesn't split the lovely marble.
Love the window board, one of my tricks there.. lol.

Finished a shower room at the end of the week that I have been working on and off for the last month or so.
It was a complete rip out and refit (incl all new electrics, plumbing ....the works!)
A slight improvement on the original. The Argentinian rectified ceramic tiles were an absolute nightmare....some were so bowed they would rock on a flat surface
Infra-red sensor hidden under the basin that switches on the LED's automatically and huge shower niches really are the nice bits I fitted in this one.

Nice bit of tiling there Blocko..... It's a shame the new rad, sink and toilet supply pipes weren't coming out of the Walls instead of the floor as it would have looked much tidier IMO, but a very nice job non the less.

Totally agree stewart, but customers spec and choice of goods. Would have made my life easier too as one of the basin pipes started leaking after being under pressure for a week (after I had put down floor and hardibacker too!). I had to rip the whole lot up and re-do again. Very frustrating
