Here's my entry for this month, nothing like the architect planned, I had to insist on a bull nose on the step, also a variable to highlight the border. I used a decoupling membrane over the old concrete, then a backer board to reach the desired height. This job was completed today, I walked off last week as the quantities were all wrong, I was wet through, no lights using my headlight to see. On the good side eventually the architect gave me carte blanche, and my mate ed came along to share the freezing cold weather. PS, the riser was not my idea.![]()

Ill have another go this month, this is an open plan kitchen/lounge it has got a few pics with both ends in but its the lounge that is being entered.
the floor tiles are 1200x195 porcelain plank affect from porcelanosa. and the tiles around the fire place are slate on a mesh backer 400mmx100mm porcelanosa colonial and each piece varied from 10mm to 30mm in thickness, the customer wouldnt pay for the proper corner pieces which interlock so i mitred them but due to the different thicknesses of each piece it was very rugged so i then trimmed each piece down with the rotozip once it was installed. the cills are slate which were bullnosed and i inserted slate around the woodburner to give it a bit of a border which finished it off nicely.
Hope you like.

Here is my entry for November - The clients remit was (a) Remove old 1960/1970 ceramic black and white floor in the porch and rebuild the screed / substrate. (b) Clean the original Victorian floor in the hall - Black and White with minimal damage, seal, polish. (c) Create a new/replacement Victorian Floor in the porch to match or compliment the Original in the hall.
To be fair the original floor was not too bad and needed a really good clean and polish etc. I lifted the ceramic porch tiles and all the screed came up with it as it was basically sand with a half a shovel of cement and was nothing more than dust. So back the slab and remade the screed using two layers of multiflo with stone dust to bulk it up [total thickness 60mm]
Made some of the tiles required from longer / larger pieces as they were non std. Then sealed it and polished it to finish.
I've got a funny feeling that my neighbour [15m distant] Gooner is not going to like it but some of you guys might appreciate the work. The most important thing is the customer thinks its 'Fab'
