Discuss Floor Tile Prep in the Guest Area at TilersForums; I'm in the process of tiling my en-suite bathroom floor which is only 1.3m do I need to put any ply or NMP down as it such a small area ...

    Default Floor Tile Prep

    I'm in the process of tiling my en-suite bathroom floor which is only 1.3m do I need to put any ply or NMP down as it such a small area and won't be a wet room

    regardless of how small the area is you will normally find that the floor will need some reinforcement. I would advise you to sheet over the floor. You need to be sure that the existing floor is sound too though.

    my advice for a sound job would be to take floor back down to the joists add noggins to strengthen your joists then 18mm wbp ply make sure there isno deflection (bounce in the floor) then basically add 6 mm cement boards over the top glued with a single part flexible adhesive and screwed every 200mm this will ensure youofa long lasting floor
