We're having a new bathroom built by the same builders who did a downstairs extension for us. I've been to one of their current builds to look at a similar wetroom and the process involved.
It had a 900 square Aquadec and Tilesafe membrane in an alcove of 1200 wide (not sure how far out the screen was going to be). After reading some of the info on here 2 things struck me.
They were using standard chipboard around the dec - is this ok if the tanking is suitable or would waterproof/resitant boards be better?
The Tilesafe was only being put a few inches up the wall (plastered, and being tiled) - is it best to tank the whole wall?

Regarding the optimum dec size - we're thinking of 1400x900 (open side on 900) with screen of 1400 and a ceiling shower head. Just concerned about splashes and pooling on the non-dec area but would this size (or smaller) be ok if the whole area (2000x900) was tanked?

Chipboard around the dec is a no no although I guarantee they will say otherwise, tanking should be on all walls and preferably no skim on the plasterboard either for weight issues.
They should be using waterproof boards in a wetroom, anything else is a compromise.

Would plasterboard and tanking be ok for the walls or are you suggesting waterproof/resistant boards on the wall as well?

Regarding a tray i'm looking for one that is a 22mm thick self supporting one to fit onto the joists and flush with the floor boards.
The options seem to be:
Marmox Showerstone
Impey Aquadec
AKW Tuff2/Tuff-form
Purus Maxxus (I think) Wedge-dek (although think this might be 27mm)

Would anyone have any recommendations, particularly for a linear drain one, as I like the look of the Wedge-dek, with the drain being out of the way at the wall end.

Before choosing your planned dec I would speak to your builder / installer and establish that the floor is either to be over boarded with 10/12mm ply wood or replaced totaly with 22-28mm ply wood. Either of these will be required together with an uncoupling membrane if you intend to tile the floor.

If you are definately wanting a channel drain then do a little more research a dedicated board in your situation is far prefered to a diy build kit.

The floor is a new one of 22mm boards on joists.

Have done some more research and am looking at:
Wedgedek former with Purus channel drain.
Rest of floor, and walls, with NoMorePly (on floor for insulation for ufh).
Dura-WP membrane.

Any opinions?

The Wedgdek is the only one I can find which has a channel drain in the right place. There is the Maxxus channel deck former but the layout/size of it would make it the other way round, putting the drain at right angles to the wall rather than parallel.
Size would need to be 900 by 1100/1200 with the channel at the 900 end.

You say 22mm boards is that ply or traditional floor boards you are using. Is the floor in now or to go in ??

It's a new extension so the floor is to go in, with ply boards of 22mm although could be anything I specify I suppose.
