Default I have mistakenly lay wall tiles on floor

    Hi,
About a year ago I lay some lovely 33x60 9mm ceramic tiles on the floor...they look fine (other than some wonky grout lines). I have since realised that these were wall tiles and that their durability is unlikely to be suited to floors. Is there anything I can do to prolong their life...and are there any other problems with these tiles which may creep up on me!
    Thank you
    Michelle

If they have lasted this long then they arent doing too bad. I cant think of anything that will make them harder wearing. I reckon you will just have to live with them until the time is right to redo .....and use floor tiles next time

well they havent broke so far so must have a solid bed under them

Correct answers from all my colleagues on the TF - That said if they were porcelain wall tiles and as long as they are not subject to high point loading, ie used on a bathroom / ensuite floor where bare feet are the norm, you might get away with your mistake for while longer. As general rule floor tiles are about 4 times stronger than wall tiles and some as much as 8 times the tensile strength.

I am gutted....I almost classed myself as a pro after laying them.....no high heels, no bare feet and no dropping things from now on! Thankfully the white tiles are made of white clay rather than red!

    Thank you everyone x

Other reason they may be classed wall tiles is that they are too slippery for the floor and wont get approved.

Might not be anything wrong with the tile but the slip factor is important to mfrs when grading (and saviing their skins)

But if they are not causing you any probs dont lose sleep on it !
