I ordered my 55mm drill bit on the phone around 12.00 monday, arrived before 10.00 tuesday morning, not bad service eh..
Basically, no one i have tried to get to actually undertake drilling a 55mm hole in my 6x2x2 12mm glass aquarium, so after lots of researching on here and the net generally, i decided to give it a go myself.

    Here is my idiots guide:

1.Get the bits from 365 drills, get your drill, with adjustable rpm speed , decide where your holes need to be, mark them out with something that writes on glass.

2.Use the supplied guide template, follow instructions also supplied.

    3. Start your drill spinning, whilst holding the guide gently press against the glass, pressing firmly on the guide, angle the bit to bite into one side to form a pit , to prevent the spinning bit form skating around or attempting to.

4.Its noisy, stop every 20 seconds or so, clean the bit and glass residue, let the glass cool, i positioned a hosepipe running like a trinkle aimed at the hole.

5.Keep going, moving the spinning drill sround in a small circular fashion until it forms a level pit - remove guide template.

    6. Keep it wet and cool--better to stop and let it have a break and gain your composure.

7.Keep going, slowly, stopping and cleaning as before.

8.When it gets to near the end - it will sound differently - keep a firm grip on your drill, and keep it spinning, and still keep wet.

9.It will grind through the glass eventually, and may attempt to bite the glass, just be brave and keep the bit turning, not too fast, anything over 520 rpm is too much.

    10. When your through, using a spinning drill, just grind through making sure your drill is straight, and it will grind off any surplus bits.

    11.Done.

It was easy. Honest, definately give it a go, or mail me to come do it for a small fee, only kidding.

Hope this helps, really chuffed, two perfect holes in my aquariums, i'm no expert, just fairly competant at using a drill, i advise anyone to try, or call a specialist, if you find one, i couldnt....good luck.

    mike.
