I purchased porcelain tiles that are 20cm x 120cm ( looks like wood planks). The builder told me they weren't perfectly flat. If you lay two side by side they are flat but as they are to resemble a wood floor effect they would be ar staggered intervals. It seems if you lay them looking like bricks the middle of the 120cm tile (at 60cm) would be around 1mm higher than the edge of the tile it is next to. Is this normal or not?

There were by no way cheap tiles, they were around £70 a meter on sale from their original price of around £95 a meter. The tiles look amazing and the varying White washed oak grains and swirls vary on tiles and there are around ten different tiles so it does really look like wood.

In effect the middle of the tile sits 1mm higher than the ends, so they are slightly bent.

It's not unheard of . Quite common with floor board tiles . Fixing them using something like the raimondi levelling system should help a lot .

This is normal for tiles of that length, if the tiler uses a levelling system, (clips) this should help and bend them into shape basically.

Is the builder fitting the tiles or is he getting a fully qualified tiler in ?

Laid these half bond, no problems. Have never used a levelling system, yet. Thou it may definitely help, with lippage.

Its an old property, circa 1900, and the soil pipe is lead into a cast iron stack, ( I'm sure he will manage with a multi quick adaptor and shed load of silicone). he,he,.;)
