Discuss Retrofit tile edge or caulk? in the Canada area at TilersForums. The USA and UK Tiling Forum (Also now Aus, Canada, ROI, and more)

Morning, I've tiled a splashback above my hob with metro tiles.brick bond 4 wide. This has left every other row with a half cut tile. Stupidly I didn't consider the edging prior to tiling. I'm wanting to get started on grouting and finishing the job but I'm not sure what will work best for the edges.
Do I try and retrofit an edge or try to make the best of it with caulk?
What is your advice? Pics added below. Ian.

Without mentioning your tiling methods lol, I would suggest you try and find something to fit on the edges to make it look neat, as I don't think it will look good with caulk or silicone or grout up the edges.

You can buy lengths of trim, usually chrome that are just a bead with no backing on that would go up the sides of there and smarten it up

This may come as a surprise but this is my first attempt at tiling :) I'm guessing if I did find an edge without the flange I should just attempt to trim the section between worktop upstand and the bottom of the cupboards. Would silicone be the best method of sealing the other edges or simply grout those? Final question, to fit the edge would you use a contact adhesive? Thanks in advance and thank you for taking it easy on a rookie.

I'd take the outer tiles off and re-do them using a length of 8mm straight edge plastic trim, between the upstand and underside of wall units. In the first picture the 'half' tile directly under the wall unit lhs looks cut wrong anyway, you might want to check with a spirit level and re-cut any as necessary. Where you've tiled up to units, upstands etc should be siliconed.

You can get various types of mouldings , metal or plastic from some large DIY stores, some even have a self adhesive strip attached, or use silicone or such.

It looks like the top cut tile on the left is a bit out, that'll cause you problems with whatever you put up the sides. Once you've straightened that out a bit of box section ally/plastic/chrome siliconed to the wall then grouted up to should tidy up the edge.
