Please checkout the following advertisement.
Imo the perfect way would be fully tank the wall to floor, obviously tape the corner, fit the tray and silicone, then apply butyl tape over lapping on to tray which will stick like you know what to the tray

Ok, see your point. So you are still taping down to the shower but painting the membrane beneath as well. Suppose it seems silly not to for the amount of membrane it will use, if for any reason the the tape/silicone fails. Point taken onboard :)

I like trays fitted using classi seal too (unless the plumber stretches the corner). Then silicone that to the wall and tanking tape over all internals, joins and the classi seal/tray. Then paste everywhere in the shower to the ceiling.

I usually only tank to chest height unless I'm feeling generous

I usually err on the side of caution and tank to around 1600 high and normally take it to a good 300 past wet area. Apply to floor around tray also. Belt and braces every time. :thumbsup:
