Bit of a strange one but a success non the less. I was putting a bathroom in and the customer asked if I could 'Tile', I told him I could but not professionally, he was happy that I was honest with him and asked me to give him a price, he also asked if he could watch and learn. The bathroom was only small and the job would be tile on tile, (not ideal i know) I prepared the walls and showed him how to use the use the tile cutter.
The reason it is a success story is because the customer tiled the bathroom himself and paid me for it...

My best ever was a 18 sq metre kitchen floor - marble tiles, diff sizes in a random pattern. Straight onto plywood. Quoted at £45.00 per metre - that is £810 in total.
Customer was away on holiday so got there early at 06:00 am. Laid tiles and gave one coat of selaler as each one was laid. Had all tiles down by 7pm.
Went back at midnight to give another coat of sealer. Then back at lunchtime next day to grout. Used just short of £100 in materials - so £710 profit . Was paid in cash. Not bad for 2 days work.

As I say - It's nice work if you can get it.
There's nothing wrong with going in with a high price ocassionally. If the customer is prepared to pay it, then why not !!

Finished my first paying job, believe me I was brickling it full bathroom walls and floor. Nice borders and decorative tiles radomly placed. The floor was laid with Black Quartz. The only thing was they wanted it grouted with black grout. What a bloody mess that stuff is.( any tips on this would be apreciated). It couldn.t have been to bad a job for the plumber and joineron the job have booked me for their bathrooms and asked if wecould be part of a small sindigate passing work to one another....result .

PS 4 jobs on the books to start ASAP.

Cheers Darren and Tracy

After a day he was an 'expert' couldn't see what all the fuss was about.
I found an old boarded up window when I took out the airing cupboard, he wanted it brickin up but I suggested he just get a new window made. Once I fitted it he became an 'expert' window fitter too
