Default Underfloor Heating Raises Floor

Hi Everyone

Got a slate job. The conservatory area will be higher than the rest of the downstairs floor because I will be using insulation board and covering the heating mat with self levelling compound. Will I need a ramp (reducer profiles) or do I board out the rest of the floor so I can get a one level floor encompassing the conservatory area? What is the best way to achieve this?

You can get 6 and 10mm insulation. Use that and have a very small profile strip. You'll not be able to treat it as one floor even if it was the same level as there would be some serious temperature differences therefore it would require an expansion strip anyway. You'll find 'the step' will only be the sort of height you'd expect going from one thick pile carpet to a thin pile one. Barely noticeable.
