Default Elektra or AHT?

Hello everybody,

I will apriciate if anybody can help me decide. I am between Electra electric underfloor heating cables and advance heating technology with amorphus metal ribbons. anybody know the advantages/disadvantages of those 2 different types of ufh?
Also i am considering about electromagnetic fields, i don't know which system generates less.
Please i need advice from you out there guys.

Thanks in advance

They are totally different. You have cable heating and then 'ribbon' heating. Cables perform much better and can be installed much easier, especially on a mat.

I'd checkout Electric Underfloor Heating UK DIY | Homepage for Handyheat and Online Electric Underfloor Heating Specialists too.

Don't worry about the elctromagnetic fields, they're only really a concern with single core cables which need connecting to the stat at the start and end of the cable, twin core only needs to be connected at the start of the cable or cable-mat.

Plus, it's apparent that the frequency the elcromagnetic fields emit at are not on the frequency which effects living beings anyway, even on a single core. Or so I heard.

Elektra cables are good but were always too pricey, similar to Devi.

Thanks Dan for your reply.

I have read that with cables the cost is more as working with higher temperates than ribbon. Is this true?

Well, you sort of get what you pay for, the ribbon does run at a lower temperature but struggles to perform through tiles. It's primary design was for heating under carpet although it orks under both laminate/wood and tiles but for tiles you'd use a cable design and for laminate/wood you'd use the Carbon Heating Mat (do a google search for it).

So it depends on what you're using it for to be honest.

If it's under tiles though, cable every time.

The running costs are all down to the stat too really. Get an Aube 132AF or a heatmiser stat and you'll find their contolling system is ****hot so it's never on when it doesn't need to be.

Ribbon sellers generally push the sale based on the low runing temperature but I've personaly found no benefit with it.
