So what EUH systems would you recommend for the following room sizes
2400 x 2400mm
2400 x 3200mm
both floors are 22mm moisture resistant t&g chipboard already laid.
Joists are 50 x 225.

Hi Hammer-Ray
I presume that the floor covering is tiles?
Area 1 = 5.76m2 @ 85% = 4.89m2
Area 2 = 7.68m2 @ 85% = 6.53m2
Total area = 13.44m2
If an internal application such as Kitchen/bathroom you will need 160w/m2 or if an area of higher heat loss you will need 200w/m2
You will need a total of 19 x 10mm Insulation boards (600x1200mm)
Below are products and prices required for either option 160w/m2
Area 1 - MD160/5.0 = £132.67
Area 2 - MD160/6.0 = £172.91
19 x Ekoboards = £104.88
2 x Thermostats TH132AF = £128.80
Total £539.26 200w/m2
Area 1 - MD200/5.0 = £159.81
Area 2 - MD200/6.0 = £183.29
19 x Ekoboards = £104.88
2 x Thermostats TH132AF = £128.80
Total £576.78
I have priced for 2 thermostats but with the size of the rooms you can get away with 1 if you wish.
I hope this helps
Best Wishes and Happy New Year,
|

Devi are by far the most superior underfloor heating system avaliable. This must be one of the most crammed markets at the minute with many sub-standard matting systems coming in from china and the like

s
There are some horrific ufh systems that are coming from China at silly prices which will end up working for short space of time and then where do you go for help?
We at Uheat offer a great range of superior quality products at a great price even if you are considering buying another product we are here to offer help and advice if needed.
Thanks for your comments |

There are still a few companies, like Elektra, that source all their raw materials from europe and actually manufacture the heating cables/mats in europe. One of Devi's largest factories is about 40Km from the Elektra factory in Poland
There are many sub-standard underfloor heating mats & cables flooding the market. I've seen alot of them, they try to sell to us The quality is unbelievable - poor. The source of most of these cables is China & india where quality control is not up to European standards, for example Elektra test every mat / cable that leaves the factory, unlike some that only batch test. That's just one of the reasons why we haven't had a manufacturing fault on any system during 2007, 2008 & 2009.
Give us a try and I don't think you'll be disappointed in the quality of the product or service |

Hi Fellas,
Wondering if anyone can give me some ideas about how to tackle this one..
Looking at a job for friend of friend. They are having a house refurbed totally, and new kitchen is now 1 long room which was 2. measures 6m x 3.2.
The floor needs levelling to start with, one half has a hollow of approx 30mm in it!
They are looking at putting elctric UFH in and tiling over. Floor is concrete base. I have heard that after i have level compounded the floor, there is some sort of thermal primer i can use to help reduce heat loss into the concrete prior to laying the heat mats. But also other things tell me to put insulation boards down. This gonna lift floor height even more.
Because of floor area i will also be screeding over the mat prior to tiling.
Anyone with experience of this situation who can suggest way(s) forward?
cheers,
Stevo

The Thermal primer really is a gimic and your best way forward is to use the insulation boards (10mm is the norm)
Have a look at www.uheat.co.uk for some great products and prices, they will sort you out a really good deal and answer any questions you have |

Agree B & E, see pete at Uheat, his eco boards are the cheapest around. Make sure you choose the correct SLC for that 30mm dip Stevo

Stevo | Hi Stevo,
With regard to thermal primer, haven't seen any data from the suppliers/manufacturers that indicates the actual thermal resistance or conductivity of the primer which always makes me wonder if it really works. We did some tests at the factory and decided that it wasn't worth offering to our customers, actual insulation is a much better solution.
If you can afford the height increase, it would be best to use insulation boards on the concrete. You could use a thicker insulation board in the hollow to bring the floor up to the level of the rest of the floor. We offer floor insulation boardsin the following thicknesses 6mm, 10mm, 20mm, 30mm, 40mm, 50mm & 60mm.
What you might consider is to fix insulation boards on to the concrete base using flexible tile adhesive (thicker in hollow), then install underfloor heating mats and then cover with self levelling compound. This might help with keeping the floor height down by not leveling the concrete before you install the insulation.
If you need any help with further advice or prices for insulation, heating, etc, please contact me by PM or mail@uheat.co.uk |
