Default Desperate for Replacement Tiles (photos attached)

    Dear Tilers,

I hope someone can help me find a supplier for my bathroom tiles (developer I bought the house from went out of business and cannot be reached for info).

The tiles are beige mosaic tiles, about 395mm x 300mm, with a matt finish. They were laid in autumn 2006, shortly before I bought the house. Judging by the materials used for the rest of the house, they must have been very cheap.

I'm desperate since EVERY SINGLE bathroom (including floors) is tiled with those ... and not a single tile left behind to replace damaged ones.

    Any ideas where to start?

Thank you very much in advance for your help, and a Happy New Year!

    Karo

I think the tiler should be lynched, have you thought of looking under a bath or shower for some loose tiles or pieces, they may have a name on the back, Was there a spec sheet given to the new owner, did your builder do this?

I think you would either have to put up with what is there or bite the bullet and get a decent tiler in to remove and fix new tiles.

    Happy New Year

So so many of these types of tile about... unless you have a spare to look at the back then it is a needle in a haystack i'm afraid.

Thanks to all of you for your replies. The "tiler" wasn't hired by us, we bought the house newly "renovated". Unfortunately no left-over tiles anywhere. I guess I'll just have to keep looking!

Looking at the photos why would anyone want to leave the installation of tiles the way this job has been completed!
The 'tiler' must have known that the joints in the individual tiles were larger than the joints in the mosaic design and has left it looking like separate sheets of mosaic. Work of this standard must reduce the value of a property!
Anyway - welcome and good luck.

Well, according to our neighbours, the "tiler", "electrician", "plumber", "carpenter" and labourer were all one and the same person ... meaning all works are of this standard!

Shocking! I wouldnt for a minute pretend to be any other trade. I know bits and bobs about many things, but its only tiling work I feel proud about and want paying for.

You should just damage a few tiles yourself......good motivation to get em re-done properly

No need to do it myself ... with his "plumber hat" on, the "tiler" had failed to ensure that the shower was connected properly, which is why the wall got soaked and the tiles fell off by themselves! Hence the need for a replacemement!!

    This statement is spot on,

I worked as a joiner/ceiling fixer for a few years & only had a year to go before i was a time served brickie.

The only trade i specialise in is tiling, its the only job i do now, unless i have to fix someone elses work, ie straighten a pipe chase etc.

When i see 1 person doing all these other trades i shiver to think about the potential for disaster.

Have you tried sourceing the so called "tiler" who did the poor job in the first place?

But as stated by many so far, if your gonna spend the money trying to repair why not just go the extra and get a propere job done by a Professional Tiler

"SOME" are quite capable but not many.

How many vans have you seen with "We do tiling to plumbing to grass cutting to painting"?

I have a mate that does all this & the only thing hes good at is cutting grass.

He wanted me to go & sort some tiling for him then phoned my other mate to ask him how to fit a boiler.

Im sorry if i put everyone in the same boat but i would never ask someone like this to come & do work for me.

I stick to fitting kitchens and bathrooms- mainly bathrooms now, from top to bottom. My wife cuts the grass.
