anyone got any info or advice about getting started tiling in sydney or what you have to. are there any regs or rules as i have heard different rumours about being registered or something like that. has anyone got any contacts if poss.

Al i neeeded to do was to register with the tax office and give my self a trading name when i was in Melbourne. That was in 2001.

what your thinking of is a building licence-you need a tilers licence if you go self employed.its different in every state and victoria ,tas and nt dont have one. sa is very tight 3-5 years exp plus builders refs plus a business course!! and you wont get much work there without one. sydney is proberly a bit slacker but if you get busted on a site without one youl be in trouble.i guess this wont matter much anyway because you will have to get a job with somebody else [builder ,tiler,construction] just to get started and your covered by their licence and insurance .try consumer affairs in nsw.i can give youm 2 days work in broken hill start tomorrow am !!!
