How does this affect a 36 year old Tiler with 6 years experience with AQF3 and UK qualifications going for a state Sponsorship 176. looking to go to either Perth or ACT. would i still hit the points system ? and would i have to take a english test ? ive had everything on hold untill now.

    Hi Terry,

The way it looks now (and we are still trying to interpret all the ramifications) your possible score would be :

    Age: 25
    Experience: 10
Qualifications (if recognised by TRA) : 10
    State nomination : 5

    Total : 50 points

So you would need to do an IELTS test and score 8 in all 4 components to claim the additional 20 points for "Superior English".

They certainly have and it will only increase the skills shortages we already have...

The rules change all the time, but in the meantime Employer Sponsored seems to be the way to go.

Thanks for your reply's ! its getting Ridiculous to say the least ! think i need to sit down and have a few beers with the Australian Goverment and point them in the right direction as how to get trade people who want to live and work in OZ there fast and without all the barriers they seem to be putting up. even the Employer Sponsorship route is messed up as no Employer will wait 9 months for a tiler ? i hope they realise that this new points system isnt going to work.
