Default i am hoping to emmigrate.

    Hi People

hope everyone is well. i was just looking for some information really.

Myself and my girlfriend are looking to go to Oz in the middle of next year. we are going on a working holiday visa, and i was wondering if you think it is possible to get work as a tiler in and around the Melbourne/St Kilda area s thats where we want to go. i have done a short course on tiling and have got some family and friends jobs coming up, however have not been able to find a proper job as a tiler as of yet. Is it possible for someone like me to get an apprenticehsip in Oz for tiling, and also is it possible to still get sponsored to stay over in Oz? the reason i ask is my friend went to Sydney a couple of years ago and got an apprenticeship in carpentry and has since been sponsored to stay.

any information would be extremely helpful as when i am looking for tiling jobs in Oz, most searches come back with roof tiling, so any company names would also be greatful.

    Cheers

    Liam

I think you will struggle actually as you are not fully skilled. Getting fully qualified over here may be the best way. There are many threads in the Australian forum bout the qualifications required.
May I ask why you want to be so close to the city? Most inner city work tends to be refurbs with the main building, new housing etc being in the outer suburbs.
I do have a name you could call...assuming he is still in that area but I doubt very much he would take you on with your limited experience.
Try looking online at the job pages in the Melbourne papers.
    Good luck anyway

Dont forget that living near the beach or the city has a price. Much cheaper on the outskirts. Train travel is easy too.
