State Migration Plans
State Migration Plans – 3 November 2010
State Migration Plans are being introduced for each state and territory over the coming months in 2010.
The Plans will provide state and territory governments with flexibility within the Migration Program to address specific skill shortages and local labour market needs as each agreement will be tailored to the individual requirements of each jurisdiction.

Re: State Migration Plans
Yes it is, for the purpose of State Sponsorship.
Hopefully the other States/territories (especially NT and WA) will include tilers on their lists.Otherwise people whose trade is not on the list will need a relative in Australia to sponser them for the State Sponsored Visas.

Re: State Migration Plans
WA has announced its State Migration Plan. The good news is that Wall and Floor Tiler is on it. The bad news (for those with little work experience) is the work experience requirement :
Criteria for Technicians and Trade Workers
If you are looking to apply for state sponsorship from the Government of Western Australia you will need to have an occupation on the Western Australian Skilled Migration Occupation list (WASMOL); meet Western Australia's criteria for your occupation and meet the Department of Immigration and Citizenship's criteria for General Skilled Migration.
Visa subclass/ Work experience
176:7 years
886 :18 months
475: 5 years
487:3 years
English requirements : All Technicians and Trade Workers are required to achieve an IELTS score of 6 across all four bands reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Re: State Migration Plans
You're right. I left Victoria out, because they have not included Wall and Floor Tilers on their Skilled Occupation List and I haven't got the info on Tassie yet.
