Hi my name is Steve, I migrated to Oz in 88 , I always lived and worked in Brisbane and did one short stint in Sydney. Five years ago I returned to UK for some work related and some family related reasons, I m ready to come back to Oz now, I ve had a good run working all over UK and Ireland, money has been above average but it is getting hard to keep sharpening the old pencil, plus the Missus is getting a bit naffed off now, so im hoping to get some feed back on the general state of our trade in SE Queensland at present. Before I left I used to get most of my work via Amber Tiles and word of mouth, I have a clean BSA licence, so no problems there , so if any Qld Lads can give me an Idea of how i is it would be helpfull, I will be back in Briz by mid May ( 25th Wedding Anniversary !, and then the Missus B'Day in june !! ) I may have to return here to clear up a few things for a while but I do want to be out of here by about Sept for good, so any help Lads...............Cheers Steve aka ozboz

hi steve been out on the gold coast from november im in the process of getting my bsa as working for other people is a joke the prices are shocking. i was offerd a job working for a shop laying 600x600 in peoples houses not on site for 22dollers a m2
i worked for 3 days for one guy and its all on m2 rates even round the bath area with steps and borders metal trim and miters got 100 dollers that day. got 550 dollers for 3 days long days 10-12hours,there are hourley rate jobs they are paying as low as 20 dollers, i think you will be shocked when you get out here as the cost off living has gone through the roof

Cheers Jason, not what I wanted to hear really !! but things seem the same as when I decided to come back to England for a bit. The Missus is always reminding me of the rising cost of living over there !! Im working in Chiswick, London at the mo, its a bit pricey to, you name thingy says you are from Essex, I have spent a bit of time working there over the last few years, which part are you from ?
