I have 136 Visa (the new 175 Visa) which i have validated. Just noticed on our visa it says cannot arrive after 2012 but also says can remain in Australia indefinetely. Can anyone tell me if i have to re-apply for a visa in 2012 as we have searched the websites and cannot find any information on this. many thanks

I would of thought it means to validated before 2012. So by putting 'cannot arrive after 2012' they mean must be arrive no later that 2012. once you have been there you can go to and throw as you please.

As you have been to oz to validate the visa you can disregard that bit. But dont take my word for it. check it out.

i would e mail the australian goverment if u have any questions! but i no you have 5 years to use it ! and once in oz you can go anywhere in oz or new zealand for ever ! plus after 4 years you can apply for citizenship which means you will be a ozzy and have 1 oz passport and 1 uk one ! the 175 visa is the one iam applying for and the best visa to get! where you going to in oz ?

We have found out through our agency that once it gets to 2012 we then have to apply for permission to leave Australia. We have a house in Jacobs Well, Goldcoast and are going out there permanently towards the end of the year. Jason

When you get your visa, it allows you to stay in Oz. indefinitely (permanent residency) and the sticker allows you to leave and re-enter Australia for 5 years from the issue date.

All you need to do is get a new visa label when the first one runs out ($ 80 at your local DIAC office) and this will enable you to leave and return for another five years.

You can of course get Australian citizenship once you are eligible and then you don't need any visa at all.
