Did you not need a recognized qualification to work in Oz?

emailed my sis. her hubby is a chippy out there.
he says the going rate for tilers in perth is 200 - 250 dollers per day which
works out about £75 - £100 a day, any trade that u go for has to be assessed before u can do anything, by the time all paper work is in place it will take at least 3months before u can work.

I think it may be risky just doing a 4 week course then nothing until you move over there, then getting assessed on your quality of work "how ever they do it" if you haven't tiled after the course.
Once you've done the course try and get some more tiling done for any friends or family members that want some doing to keep your hand in as much as possible.

start putting some feelers out here for work for after you have done your course, family and friends...obviously if your already working it's going to be weekends but this way you will have at least some experience of real world tiling for when you hit oz..good luck on the course, don't be afraid to ask questions even if you think they sound stupid, you can bet that someone else is thinking or wanting to ask the same quesion.

when you do your course ask your tutor to explain about floor screeding as in oz its a tilers job because a lot of propertys over there have got floor drains to make washing the floors easier and you will have to screed the floor so the water will run down the drains if that makes sense
