Yep there all still going strong Metro tiles CTM (ceramic tile market) DTA are all Australia wide. B.T.A Trims for all your bulk crosses 't' and wedges as well as trim in all sizes and styles. Bunnings Hardware for your bits and bobs comes in handy.
Most of the tilers use sigma gear expect to pay about $400au for a general purpose 35cm goes up from there.
Most work is priced on M2 rate for general ceramics $30-40 would be a good guide porcelain starts at $55 and goes up from there. Stone trav marble granite starts $80m2 sandtone and other natural stone $100m2 plus. Day rates $330 or $40-55/hr would be an honest and fair rate of pay.
Work wise you should be ok although there has been a gas explosion at one of the bulk gas storage depots in recent weeks and residents are being rationed there gas but this will me of little concern as the state is going gangbusters.
