Hi
I have just moved to Perth from the UK.
I have done several jobs but am unsure if im charging too much or not enough.
What is the average time it takes and price to tile an 18 square meter bathroom (just walls from floor to ceiling)?
I know this is a bit vague and every job is different, but would like to get a bit of a feeling for what i should be charging.

hey mate, i'm from the other side of the country, but from you vague description i would expect to get the tiling done in a day, go back to grout and silicone the next. I would charge $35 a metre at least.

Hi Mick,

If your bathrooms are just 4 nice walls with minimum cutting and no externals and vertical features or friezes and no baths or vanities windows to tile around then tiling it in a day would be possible. But as you get more fixtures and fittings along with features and the like I'd allow 2 days to tile and a half day to grout and silicone. You won't get much more work you can do on that half day grouting and the like so round it up to 3 days finished. For the room you describe I'd charge $55/m2 or more depending on the state of the walls and the materials I was expected to fix, but that would be my base price.

I would be keen to hear any tips which you have as I will be moving to mandurha in a few weeks and am looking ot get working straight away as a tiler.

I already have my visa, tax file number etc and a home.

Hi Steve,

I seem to have generated quite a bit of work by advertising in the Quokka. I'm not out here to work flat out anyway, just needed enough for us to be able to tick over.

Tilers are expected to do screeding of floors and also need to be able to render walls and brick up the side of the bath.

A strange question. When you refer to screeding, do you mean floor levelling 9self sevelling compounds)? Did you start work straight away or did you need to prove your skills first. i already have my visa and tax file number etc. i live in mandurah?
