Screeding down here refers to a dryish mix of medium river sand and cement packed down onto the floors usually 30-50mm thick of shower recesses and also full bathroom floors to cater for falls to wastes and to accomodate frameless shower screens. And "Yes" you will be expected to be able to do them.

Self levelling compounds are different and are usually used to get uneven slabs level and smooth for large format tiles. You will also need to be able to install this as well'

A bit of bricklaying and rendering skills wouldn't go astray either.

The tiler is expected to screed the floor only in the bathroom, shower and toilet and possibly the laundry,with sand and cement,also add waterproofer to the mix in wet areas,you dont have to be an expert but need to get the flow to the drain points correct.
