    Question fixing hardibacker on tng

    hi everyone need advice fixing hardibacker on tng in upstairs bathroom. I was going to make sure the tng was solid ist before screwing down the hardi on top is that right !!or do i need to put a flexible powder base on top of tng and then fix hardi on top of that!!! ime gona be using bal rapidset FLEXIBLE!! any advice would be great thank you

    You got it..adhesive first..then hardi....but check with adhesive manufacturer to check there suitability for use with hardi..

    thanks dave for advice ime going to use the bal rapidset flexible .

    Check with BAL for recommnded thickness of hardi...they don't recommend the 6mm one like hardi does...

    Why not remove the tng? The chances are you'll find battens behind, then screw 12mm hardibacker to that.

    you mean the joists?? thatll fail in no time. you need 25mm ply over normal joists

    i was thinking of that but thought might be creating more work but makes sense tho cause then it wont be so raised ! does the hardi need primer before laying . thanks cc

    Hardi doesn't need priming..just a wipe over with a damp sponge...

    Sorry I thought we were talkign walls, and the T and G was panelling!
