You can imagine that you are not going to get a percentage you quote for so getting pre printed headed paper seems like a waste. I tend to tell the customer that I have to price materials to get the best price for them and go away to do just that. Also when at home and you have time to think you have less chance of forgetting about trim and so on. You can also decide just how long it is going to take you given the obstacles. Finally I list everything on paper, such as the date and address, what they want tiling exactly, what materials you are providing, what tile size and type is quoted for and I put additional notes such as customer to remove existing tiles and make good for example, that way each knows what is expected of the other. Finally I make it clear by putting on the quote that it is only valid for a month as material prices do go up and sign it. Seperatly I make another copy of the quote so I know how much I quoted if they want the job doing in case they try pulling a fast one weeks to come. |
