What the author of the article is trying to say is that the sealing of ALL stone in any situation is wrong. Sealers are useful to prevent staining when porous stones are placed in an environment where they are exposed to the potential of staining. I can walk into a well known tile seller and the answer to my question of maintenance I will be told "make sure the stone is sealed then you will be ok" - well this shows a complete and utter lack of knowledge about stone.
In summary the writer is simply saying - is this stone likely to stain? and more often than not the answer is no so why bother sealing, just leave it alone. |
