Re: Plaster Skim | | Dotting and Dabbing is the method used to apply pasterboards to brick walls without the use of wodden batons. It is sometimes called 'Dry Lining'.
Instead of wooden batons being used to assist the fixing of the board to the wall, plasterboard adhesive is used. The adhesive is 'dotted' onto the wall, normally x8 for your normal size board, evenly spread out.
The board is then 'dabbed' onto the wall (leaving a 1-2 inch gap from the floor) and levelled with a large spirit level. Its normally dry after 24 hours. You can tile onto the board after this, as no plaster has been applied to the board.
It goes on for ages, but basically thats it.
With skimming, its normally 3mm thats applied (in total) in 2 coats.
Good luck :) |
