So how was this done prior to the invention of sealers?
Anyway you should bear in mind that no sealer is a gaurantee against staining, I feel people are using the fact that you have sealed a stone as a cushion against future criticism.
What this all boils down to is trying to get the industry to treat its customers better and not hide behind marketing hype about sealing thinking it does more than reduce the stones porosity.
